I found myself snapping more and feeling frustrate

I found myself snapping more and feeling frustrated but didn’t know where it was coming from.

I always do a self assessment of how I’m feeling first. H.A.L.T. : Am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired? Well yes, always tired 😅 but some days it was none!

I recognized I was OVERSTIMULATED! Too much noise coming at me at once. And a MASSIVE source was my phone. Constant opinions, daily examples of how other people are doing life better, things I want to do/try, everyone else doing everything… all at once.

Here’s what I found helpful:

1. Learning from all the mamas online is an awesome privilege. But once taken too far to comparison, it’s damaging.

2. Take breaks. (Mainly social media) We’re not meant to have such HIGH input all the time. On top of the voices & needs of our littles.

3. Make sure to fill up your cup. Whatever that looks like. You can’t pour out into their lives with an empty cup.

I struggled to embrace motherhood like I thought I

I struggled to embrace motherhood like I thought I would. I thought I would be so natural at it and would love every second.

But I didn’t. I felt like I lost my identity. All the things I thought made me who I was, felt like they weren’t there anymore. My career wasn’t center stage and the praise for working hard along with it. My body changed and I wasn’t able to do what I did before or it hurt. My mind seemed to be a disaster & everywhere at once. Every part of me went in to giving all I had to raise this tiny human. And I began to worry I’d resent her for all the sacrifices I was making.

It’s hard to talk about these places in motherhood but they are so real. It’s harder when the moms you know didn’t feel this way.

I’ve wrestled with “my purpose” in motherhood longer than I would have liked. But it’s led me to such a beautiful place of discovering who God created me to be and what He created me for!

I was created with a purpose! I was CHOSEN for this! My life is so valuable and full of meaning (despite the often thankless everyday job of being a mom) and I GET to help shape and mold two incredible lives! And while that doesn’t take away bad days, it radically shifts them when I claim the truth.

Instagram is awesome and I love that we can have a community from all over the world, but I hope you find time to find your purpose outside of this app. Because this space can deceive you in thinking you’re doing motherhood wrong, you’re missing out on so many things, or you aren’t good enough. But those are LIES! And to live a life thinking that way IS A WASTE. To quote the awesome @hosanna.wong , “You are so much more than you’ve been told!”
